How BaitCloud came to be:

BaitCloud was founded in 2015 by Cheryl Hopkins and Carl Rudnik, two entrepreneurs that met somewhat by accident.

It all started when Cheryl overheard Carl and his father talking about fishing, and the notion that there was no commercially viable product on the market for a fish attractant that went into the water vs. onto the lure itself. The discussions started and the idea was born…

After some diligent research, the two designed and produced a set of prototype balls incorporating specifically unique ingredients. They provided the prototypes to numerous anglers and began actual field research. In one early test, Carl’s father, armed with a fish finder, tested the product at his favorite ice fishing spot. The results were stunning. The fish finder screen filled with targets soon after the ball was activated in the water!

And so Bait Cloud was born, and the hard work to build a business began in early 2015.

Manufacturing, marketing, detailed research and hundreds of other “start-up” processes began. BaitCloud worked on fine-tuning the formulas and designed in-house manufacturing operations in a clean, food-grade production facility to control product quality and proprietary formulas. Today, BaitCloud is 100% in control of its own production.

An immediate question became “how does it work?” Understanding the impact of multiple sensory attraction for both forage and gamefish produced the next big advancement in the product and confirmed that BaitCloud is grounded in actual biology. In a nutshell, the product mimics the signals emitted by schools of baitfish drawing game fish into the target area. With this knowledge, the composition of the product was refined to be biodegradable, environmentally friendly, and produced attraction results that closely emulate natural bait fish foraging.

Soon, Bait Cloud was sponsoring fishing tournaments, had secured positive reviews from important publications like Outdoor Canada, and had attracted celebrity endorsement from Italo Labignan of Canadian Sportfishing Television. Word was starting to spread…

Fast forward to July, 2016: Bait Cloud presents to the fishing marketplace at the annual ICAST trade event, showcasing the developments of the Company and products with a progressive video presentation of BaitCloud in action on the water. The Company will remain active in the recruitment of retail and channel partners and also in building awareness among both novice and seasoned anglers.

The BaitCloud™ brand is company owned and headquartered in Canada with a manufacturing facility in Oakville, Ontario. With new angling customers, retailers, and distribution partners across Canada and the US, Bait Cloud is off to a fantastic start.
