Nikwax Assortment TX Direct Spray Tech Wash B

NIKWAX® TECH WASH:

  • Safe, high performance cleaner for wet weather clothing and equipment.
  • Soap-based;
  • Biodegradable;
  • Great for all GORE-TEX®, Primaloft® & Polartec® apparel.

Your waterproof clothing and equipment could be soaking up water because the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) has been compromised by dirt, or because it has been cleaned with a conventional laundry detergent. Dirt attracts water and household detergents leave water attracting (hydrophilic) residues, leading to fabric ‘wetting out’ in wet or damp conditions.
If your waterproof clothing or equipment  is relatively new, or recently treated with a Nikwax waterproofer, then cleaning with Nikwax Tech Wash® will not only remove contaminants, such as dirt and residues left behind by household detergents, but also revitalize DWR.

Nikwax Tech Wash® is the market leader; it has been specifically designed and optimized for breathable waterproof fabrics.
Nikwax Tech Wash® is a highly effective cleaner. Additionally it will revitalize existing Durable Water Repellency (DWR) and revive breathability. It is the safe way to thoroughly clean your waterproof clothing and equipment.
Application in a washing machine is quick, easy, and ensures that the whole garment is thoroughly cleaned.

Use undiluted Tech Wash® and a sponge, or soft nylon brush, to treat stubborn stains before washing. Remove all non-washable parts. Shake well before use. Follow care label instructions. Do not use detergents.

  • Remove all detergent build up from the detergent dispenser.
  • Place item(s) in washing machine (maximum 2 items).
  • Use 150ml in medium/hard water* areas and 100ml in soft water areas for 1-2 items.
  • Wash according to care label.

NIKWAX® TX DIRECT SPRAY-ON:

  • Adds Durable Water Repellency, revives breathability and maintains internal wicking properties.
  • Spray on, high-performance waterproofing;
  • PFC-free;
  • No heat activation required;
  • Great for all GORE-TEX®, Primaloft® & Polartec® apparel.

Your raingear could be soaking up water just because it is dirty. First, try cleaning it with Nikwax Tech Wash®, and if it is fairly new, or recently re-waterproofed, the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will be revitalized just from cleaning.  But, once the garment has been thoroughly worn, you will need to add DWR, using Nikwax TX.Direct®, after cleaning first with Nikwax Tech Wash®.

Alternative waterproofing products are often solvent-based aerosols; alternatively, they may be water-based and use fluorocarbons. Aerosol products are flammable. Fluorocarbons pose a potential risk to the environment and to the long-term health of the consumer.

Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On is a safe product to use on breathable waterproof items with wicking linings, or those that can’t be machine washed. It is WaterBased, non-flammable, contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and is fluorocarbon free. Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On can be applied to the outer face fabric of waterproof clothing, providing Durable Water Repellency (DWR) without compromising internal wicking properties. It has been specifically designed and optimized for breathable waterproof clothing, providing DWR while maintaining breathability.
Nikwax TX.Direct® requires no heat to develop its DWR, so it is not necessary to use a tumble drier for best results. As garments with taped seams get older the tape adhesion weakens, becoming more fragile and susceptible to heat, so it is best to avoid tumble drying.

Using the right waterproofing product is important. Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On is fantastic for raingear with wicking linings, as it provides Durable Water Repellency (DWR) without impairing wicking properties. However, if wicking linings aren’t present, using Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In ensures you won’t miss any areas (complete DWR coverage!) and it’s easy to apply in a washing machine.

Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On is easy and quick to apply, and its highly Durable Water Repellency (DWR) develops on air drying. The need for tumble drying is removed, this saves energy and protects more vulnerable, older, garments from heat. Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On has been specifically designed and optimized for breathable waterproof garments; it leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibres allowing moisture vapour to pass through, maintaining breathability.
The spray-on application allows for direct treatment of areas which require it most (e.g. elbows and seams on jackets) and will not compromise the properties of internal wicking liners.

NIKWAX® TX DIRECT WASH-IN:

  • Adds Durable Water Repellency and revives breathability – in a washing machine.
  • Wash-in, high-performance waterproofing;
  • PFC-free, no heat activation required;
  • Great for all GORE-TEX®, Primaloft® & Polartec® apparel.

Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In is the market leader. It is easy and quick to apply in a washing machine, and its highly Durable Water Repellency (DWR) develops on air drying. Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In has been specifically designed and optimized for breathable waterproof garments; it leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibers allowing moisture vapour to pass through, maintaining breathability.

Nikwax takes great care to minimize the effect of Nikwax products on the environment and on you, the consumer. Nikwax waterproofing products are WaterBased, non-aerosol, non-flammable, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly. They contain no harmful solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are completely free of fluorocarbons (which have been shown to be persistent in the environment and have been associated with serious health issues).

For best results remove all non-washable parts and always clean item(s) first with Nikwax Tech Wash® in a separate wash cycle. No need to dry item(s) before waterproofing.

  • Remove all detergent build up from the detergent dispenser.
  • Place maximum of 2 clean garments in washing machine.
  • Use 100ml per garment.
  • Run 30°C synthetic cycle and slow spin.

Do not machine-wash garments if taped seams have become dislodged.*
To maintain waterproofing always wash with Nikwax Tech Wash®. Do not use detergents.

*Faulty taped seams sometimes become detached on old or worn garments. They can be re-stuck using a proprietary clear glue after waterproofing and drying.

NIKWAX® BASE WASH:

Synthetic base layers are designed to be worn next to the skin, providing user comfort by maintaining body temperature and controlling moisture. The fabrics used are highly wicking (they will spread moisture out over a large area), fast drying and breathable. It is therefore essential to maintain these properties when caring for base layers.

Synthetic base layers are fantastic for regulating your temperature and controlling body moisture, but over time a build up of bacteria and body oils can lead to them smelling. To keep synthetic base layers functioning properly, care must be taken when washing. Using conventional household detergents or fabric conditioners can impair wicking properties by causing the fabric to retain moisture. This leads to reduced wicking capabilities and slow drying of the fabric. Additionally, odors will not be adequately removed, instead they are masked by perfumes which will fail quickly, leaving you with smelly base layers!

All active people should use base layers to effectively manage body moisture and regulate temperature. Hill walkers, runners, cyclists, and mountaineers are among those who use base layers to maintain their comfort while active.

Once your base layer has been used a few times and is starting to smell, wash it with Nikwax BaseWash® to deodorize, freshen, soften, and enhance drying and cooling. Always apply this product to used synthetic base layers, socks, sports apparel and travel clothing to keep them in perfect condition.

Using conventional household detergents and fabric conditioners will impair the wicking properties of base layer fabrics. Standard household detergents do not stop odors from building up in the fabric when in use. Conventional fabric conditioners leave water-hating (hydrophobic) residues that will reduce the performance of the fabric, preventing it from spreading moisture and working to its maximum potential.
Nikwax BaseWash® outperforms conventional household detergents and fabric conditioners at improving wicking, accelerating drying, and removing and preventing odor build up.

Nikwax BaseWash® has been specifically formulated for use when cleaning and conditioning synthetic base layers. If you have woollen base layers make sure you use Nikwax Wool Wash™ for best results.

  • Nikwax BaseWash® is easy to use as it cleans and conditions at the same time.
  • Nikwax BaseWash® refreshes your synthetic base layers by deodorizing and maintains freshness by preventing odor build up when in use.
  • Nikwax BaseWash® also enhances and revitalizes the wicking properties of synthetic base layers and increases breathability. This helps the fabric to spread sweat, dry quickly, and keep you more comfortable in all conditions.
  • Nikwax BaseWash® outperforms household detergents and fabric conditioners at improving wicking, accelerating drying, and removing and preventing odor.

Use undiluted Nikwax BaseWash® to treat stubborn stains before washing.

Shake well before use. Follow care label instructions. Do not use fabric conditioner. Do not use on waterproof clothing.

  • Place item(s) in washing machine.
  • Use 2fl oz/50ml of Nikwax BaseWash® for front loading washing machines.*
  • Wash according to care label.

* For top loading machines in USA and Canada use 3.5fl oz/100ml for low water level, or 5fl oz/150ml for medium water level.
