Nearby Mill Creek below Guelph is also know for its brown trout, while there is good bait fishing the Guelph Correctional Ponds right in town.

Facts about The Speed & Eramosa Rivers:

The Speed River flows through a forested watershed.
The water quality and temperature in much of the Upper Speed River provides good trout habitat.

Most of this river flows through private land and landowner permission is required to access the river.
The Lower Speed River (Below Guelph Lake) offers easy access to the river’s smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, carp, northern pike and panfish and it is easily accessible through Guelph and Cambridge.

Local Fish Species include Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Bullhead, Carp, Panfish, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Brook Trout.
