VMC’s New Sleek Jig:
Like you can’t un-ring a bell, fish can’t un-bite VMC’s® new Sleek Jig. So bang a gong, any keeper you hook is staying on.
The innovation that puts more fish in the boat with a Sleek Jig is its hook’s Techset™ technical locking curve, which maximizes hooksets and pins fish in place. Forged from premium high-carbon steel, the 1X-strong VMC hook features an extra-long shank and a needle-sharp point.
“What I really like about the Sleek Jig is that unique hook,” says Rapala® Pro Tom Neustrom, a Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame Legendary Guide. “The way it’s designed, I don’t really have to set the hook on it. You don’t need a big hook set. It’s more of a pull set – just reel down and pull.”
Neustrom, who along with fellow Freshwater Fishing Hall of Famer Al Lindner, got Sleek Jig prototypes before anyone else, fished live minnows on them throughout the summer of 2019.
“There’s three good, decisive systems to use it for – fan-casting with the trolling motor on Spot-Lock, drifting and back-trolling,” Neustrom says. “In June, I fished live bait on it quite a bit, all on 6-pount-test Sufix Advance Fluorocarbon, and caught lots of 6-, 7- and 8-pound walleyes on it, and never broke off one fish. That says a lot about that jig’s hook sharpness and design.”
A weight-forward teardrop design gives the Sleek Jig stability and balance. “I like the drop on it,” Neustrom says. “The ?-ounce one fishes almost like a ¼-ounce, with as quick as it gets down to the strike zone.”
3D holographic eyes add realism to the Sleek Jig, helping catch wary fish. Available color patterns include UV Bright finishes that reflect light energy, boosting the lure’s visibility.
